Happy Birthday to my "little beans"

Who aren't so little any more! 2...wow! really, when did that happen. It has been such a joy to watch these 2 little girls grow. To think that just 2 years ago they were so tiny, so helpless, dependent on Luis and I for everything. Now just 2 short years later, they are walking, talking, running, jumping, climbing, caring, loving little girls. Girls...they are not babies any more but they are girls...toddlers...kids...wow! The past 2 years have had its challenges and I know we have many more ahead, but it has also been 2 of the best years of my life. Watching 2 lives form and grow and become beautiful little people is just incredible. And to know that you have a big part in making that happen is just amazing. So here we are on their second birthday and I couldn't ask for 2 better children. Your Papa and I love you so much and can't wait to see what this next year brings!

My dear sweet Paige,
I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday, you were the first to come out and you were so mad! As I watched them clean you up all I wanted to do was hold you tight and make you feel safe. You were just as I expected our kids to be, olive skinned with dark brown hair, you were perfect in every way! You were such an easy baby, mellow, chill. As the months went on your personality started to come out, you were still mellow but those eyes showed such sweetness. Your eyes would sparkle when you smiled and your chubby cheeks would squish them all up. More months went on and you started crawling and soon walking, you were so cautious and careful. Then you started talking and I just love your deep little voice.

As you sit here today an adorable brown eyed, brown haired toddler I am just in awe of how much you have changed. You talk so much and repeat anything anyone says! You still possess a lot of the same traits I saw in you when you were little. You are still as sweet as can be, caring, nurturing and loving. We call you our "little mother". You want to make sure everything and everyone is ok, especially your sister, and it melts my heart. You have a quiet and gentle spirit and often times like to play alone. You LOVE to sit and look at books, you can do that for a long time, analyzing each picture, pointing things out and talking to yourself. Even though you are quiet, you also know how to come out of your shell. You can get very loud and very excited and run around screaming! You are also very very stubborn (wonder who that came from)! Sharing can be hard for you but we are working on it. You love to watch movies, just like your Papa, and your favorite by far is "Finding Nemo". You love your Nemo stuffed animal. You also love "big tucks" (trucks) and point them out all the time! You are definitely a mama's girl, which makes your papa sad at times, although you do love to wrestle and have him read you the "moose book". You are growing into such a fine little lady and have so many good qualities already! I cannot wait to see how much you change this next year. I love you more than you will ever know, Happy Birthday my little Paigey Waigey

My little Emma,
I remember waiting for them to hold you up and show you to me.....I had just seen your sister, and couldn't wait to see my little "baby B". You came out all scrunched up and wrinkly and MAD! And to my surprise you were very light skinned....and had light hair...how was this possible. But you too were absolutely perfect and beautiful! Your sassiness started really young ;o) You loved your mama and loved being held, snuggled and swaddled!!! You were a go-getter from the start. You did everything first, sit, roll, crawl, walk, etc. You were and still are a little peanut, small and feisty and full of life! Even as a little thing your smile lit up the room, and your big round eyes (just like your papa), were so full of spunk! You continued to be a little dare-devil afraid of nothing.

You are now 2 and still a peanut and still spunky! You are so much fun to be around and so expressive. I have never met a little girl with so many facial expressions. You know exactly how you are feeling and what you are thinking just by your face. You are very independent and like to do everything on your own. For someone who loved to be held and snuggled as a newborn you are not very giving of those things now....its all on your terms! It is so fun to watch you go about your day to day activities, always a laugh indeed! You definitely live life to its fullest and there is never a dull moment with you! You do have a particular way and order of doing things and like to have everything in its place. You LOVE to wrestle and rough house and be thrown around. Pouncing papa while you guys are on the ground is probably your favorite! You have started to enjoy reading books more, and are actually sitting long enough for mommy to read a full story, I love it! You used to not talk as much as your sister but having started saying so much more, putting sentences together, etc. Its so fun to watch you grow and develop into your own little person and develop your own little personality. You are such a sweet little girl and so fun to be around, I love you so much, more than you know. Happy Birthday my little Emma Bemma.

Girl's, I always had a feeling you would be good friends, but you have really surprised me. You both love and care so much about each other. You rarely fight and just in general love being together. You notice when the other is gone and you don't like it. My biggest hope is that you continue to be best friends. Yes you will grow and change and become your own persons, with your own friends, but I hope you will always stay close. A sister is something very very special, and you guys have a very special bond...I hope that never goes away but only gets stronger. Always take care of each other.

The little things in life

waiting....

Getting impatient....

Yum!

Water Fun

Between the gray skies, cold mornings, windy days, and just generally bad Summer weather, we did get a few sunny and warm days. So when we did we jumped at the opportunity to get outside! Especially something involving water! A park down the street from us has a water area and the girls just love it!! The first time we went they were a bit shy and just kind of walked around and did their own thing. Second time they jumped right in running around like crazy ladies!

Mini Vacation - Cabin!

Once again it's been a REALLY long time since a post. Oh well...

The Walker's are very good friends of ours and they have a cabin up near Pinecrest and Luis and I have been going up there with them since we were dating. Its such a fun place and its so fun to be able to take our girls up there now! We spent a long weekend there about a month ago and I got sooo many pictures of the girls this is going to be one HUGE picture post!!! We had a great time. We went to the lake one day (no pics of that...I wanted to swim myself), went down to the river another day. Played in the pool on the deck. Then went for an evening walk again at the lake. The girls had a blast. Emma's favorite activity was definitely throwing rocks in the lake/river. We might have a little softball player on our hands...she already side-arms things when she throws! Paige also liked throwing rocks, but more than that I think she enjoyed helping her sister pick up the "big oons" (big ones), and watching her throw them. Emma really wanted to throw the big rocks but wasn't so sure about bending down in the river to pick them up...Paige was very willing to help her. Paige also loved the pool. They both LOVE the water but Paige gets really really excited!!! We also took a walk down to the little ice cream shop at the end of the road. The girls really loved that. Emma devoured her ice cream and even finished her sister's.

It is so fun to watch as the girls grow and interact and learn new things. We feel so blessed to be able to show them new places and experiences. Thank you Don and Patti for always opening up your cabin to our family.
