First Baby Purchase!!

Well, I should say big baby purchase...we have bought some clothes here and there!! We bought the girls their dresser!! We made the trek to Ikea this weekend and got them a dresser that will also act as a changing table!! It was fun and started to make if feel even more "real"!!
We were planning on ordering our cribs soon too, and my parents surprised us this weekend by telling us they wanted to get them for us!!! We were so excited and we feel so blessed..since with twins comes double of everything (things add up fast)!! Thanks again Mom and Dad!!!

First Funny Belly Moment!!

So I got up this morning and looked down and my belly and noticed it looked a little lopsided (odd...haven't noticed that before). So I put my hand on the part that was sticking out and it felt really hard...so I pushed on the other side (left side) and it wasn't nearly as hard. Decided to have Luis experience the oddness with me, but by the time I got to him, Baby had moved..pretty much back to normal and he didn't really notice a difference. Oh well, it was cool for me at least and very strange all at the same time!! Maybe it was her head or butt or something (It was Baby B). So they were pretty active last night too...felt like I had a soda can exploding inside me..lots of little popping and bubbles!! It's really crazy and so fun!!!

22 Weeks!! 2 Sweet Little Papayas!

Week 22: Papaya
Average Size: 11 in, almost 1lb
The babies are starting to look like miniature newborns. Their lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and they are even developing tiny tooth buds beneath the gums. Their eyes have formed, but their irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers their bodies and the deep wrinkles on their skin, which they will sport until they add a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside the belly, their pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Well, things are still going good!! I got sick this week, but not too bad...but a summer cold is just no fun!! I am starting to feel them here and there (have for the past 2 weeks)! Still no kicks, but definitely feel little taps here and there, almost like a goldfish in a plastic bag! Or slight swooshing (like my new word) sensations...almost like they are rolling over or something. I do have anterior placentas on both babies (placenta attached at the front of the uterus, so it acts as a cushion)..so my OB said I will probably feel kicks a little later than most. I am kind of sad about that, and hope to start to feel them soon (I am sure I will regret saying that when I have 8 limbs punching and kicking me in various places)!!

I am definitely getting bigger and have my moments of uncomfortableness...but really CAN'T complain...this has been the best pregnancy (although I don't really have much to compare to)...I am enjoying and loving every minute of it!!!

21 Weeks!!

Week 21: Banana
Average size: 10.5 in, 12.7 oz
The babies gulp down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future children to eat as you prepare your own lunch. I may soon feel like they are practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. I may also discover a pattern to their activity as I get to know them better.

Well below are 2 pics of our girls from our Big U/S!! Both are profile shots...baby A is on top and baby B is below!

Also, here are some 21 week belly pics!!

It's 2 Girls!!!!!

Well we had our big u/s yesterday and it revealed we are having 2 girls!! We are so excited and I am still a little shocked...I really thought that there was a boy in there somewhere! Luis called it from the beginning, the day we found out it was twins, he has sworn it was going to be 2 girls!! It was so fun to see them again, they are getting so big, and most importantly, they are healthy and growing!!! We cannot wait to meet them!!! I will scan and post pics later!

WOW!!! 20 Weeks!!!

This feels like such a big milestone, not sure why, but here is what these 2 little ones are up to this week!

Week 20: Cantaloupe
Average size: 6.5 in, 10.6 oz

They weigh about 10 1/2 ounces now and also about 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against its torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to its bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, they are measured from head to toe.) They are also swallowing more these days, which is good practice for their digestive systems.

Well monday is the big day!! We will finally be able to find out what these little "beans" are....I told Luis that we are not leaving the room until they can tell us for sure ;o) Can we say impatient!! I am still feeling good, getting bigger and bigger thats for sure! I will have to take a new belly pic soon (I have really been slacking on these)!!

19 Weeks!!!!

Week 19: Mango
Average size: 6.0 in, 8.5 oz
Here is what the 2 little beans are up to this week! Their sensory development is exploding! The brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that they may be able to hear our voice now.Their arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of their body now. The kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on the scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on their skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection - makes sense.)

So this marks the half-way mark for me (will not likely go past 38 weeks)!!!! I am so excited and it feels like such an accomplishment!!!! Keep growing babies..we love you!!!
