After 2 years of trying to start a family (7 cycles of fertility treatments), we finally found out that I am pregnant!!! I was beyond shocked and surprised, I really thought this cycle was another bust! But God is so good!!! I had my first Beta (blood pregnancy test) on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 and found out the results the next day. I was at work when I called the nurse, expecting the usually, "I am sorry honey, but it was negative".....well instead she read me my numbers...I said "WHAT"!! and she said, "oh, are these your first numbers?" and I said "yes". She then went on to congratulate me. I was in total shock and my voice was shaking as I talked with her. I just had to see what a positive pregnancy test finally looked like, so I took one....I cried in the bathroom at work as those 2 pink lines came up right away!!! After I composed myself I came back into my office and could not stop smiling! My dilema: how in the world was I going to wait the whole day to tell Luis (did not want to tell him over the phone)...well I managed to wait, and it was all worth it!!!!
How I told him....I had bought 2 onesies about 2 years back, one was blue and said "Daddy's Little Dude", the other was pink and said "Daddy's Little Angel"....I decided to place them in a gift box and I had wrote him a little note, and wrote "OPEN ME" on the front of the box. I placed it on the floor by the front door so he would see it when he walked in. I had gotten off earlier so that I would be home before him. I hid behind a little wall in our dining room, and when he walked in I heard him open the box. I popped my head around the corner to watch. He read in silence what I had written and then looked up with total shock on his face, that is when I came out....He then said, "I am goign to be a dad!" It was amazing, we hugged and cried together!!!!
I had to go back in on Friday to repeat my blood test (they want to make sure the numbers double)....oh my first numbers were 441. I called the nurse on Friday afternoon and they were 957!! So they more than doubled, such great news! We went on to tell both our parents that night, and then everyone else shortly after!! We just couldnt keep it in!!
