WOW!!! 20 Weeks!!!

This feels like such a big milestone, not sure why, but here is what these 2 little ones are up to this week!

Week 20: Cantaloupe
Average size: 6.5 in, 10.6 oz

They weigh about 10 1/2 ounces now and also about 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against its torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to its bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, they are measured from head to toe.) They are also swallowing more these days, which is good practice for their digestive systems.

Well monday is the big day!! We will finally be able to find out what these little "beans" are....I told Luis that we are not leaving the room until they can tell us for sure ;o) Can we say impatient!! I am still feeling good, getting bigger and bigger thats for sure! I will have to take a new belly pic soon (I have really been slacking on these)!!

A Little Bit about Our Journey (the technical side)

Here is a description of the fertility treatments and procedures we went through to get these 2 little beans!

After 12 months of trying on our own, we made an apt. with an RE (Reproductive Endocrinologist). She ordered us a bunch of tests, all of which came back pretty normal...she said we were young and things looked good, so this should work! We were excited to start, figuring of course these treatments had to work! Well, they eventually did, but it was a long road filled with heartache, tears, frustration, and challenges as each month returned nothing but negative results.

We did a total of 7 IUI's (intra uterine insemination) with a combination of different meds...here is how it went:

IUI #1 - 50 mg. of clomid + trigger shot + IUI
IUI #2 - 100 mg. of clomid + trigger shot + IUI
IUI #3 - 150 mg. of clomid + trigger shot + 2 IUI's
IUI #4 - 100 mg. of clomid + trigger shot + IUI
IUI #5 - 150 mg. of clomid + trigger shot + IUI
IUI #6 - menopur (injectables for 9 days) + trigger + IUI
IUI #7 - repronex (injectables for 7 days) + trigger + IUI

Just to give you a bit of a rundown on the meds...
clomid is a pill taken for 5 days to help you produce more follicles (eggs). The injectables do the same thing, but are a stronger form and are done with shots (fun)!
