An Update on Paige's Eyes!

Well after a referral from her physical therapist (she was not satisfied with the other diagnosis), we went and saw the head pediatric opthamalogist at Kaiser. He diagnosed her with (you ready for this name)...Congenital Double Elevator Palsy (Monocular elevation deficiency). Basically her right eye does not move upward when she looks up at something. Which is why she often tilts her chin up (or gives the "whats up" look) when she looks at something. The only way to correct it is with surgery, but thankfully she has a really mild case and will only need monitoring! It is not really noticeable when you are just looking at her, but if you hold her head and try and get her to look up with her eyes, that is when you can notice that the right eye doesn't move up as far as it should. He actually said it is good that she is looking up with her head, because this helps develop her vision correctly. As she continues to grow and get bigger she wont need to look up as much and it will not be as noticeable. We were glad to finally get a diagnosis and know that we are just not "crazy" in thinking something wasn't quite right!
